Contractor Newsletter: November 2019

Direct Discount Program updates

Rebate submissions and training – All Direct Discount contractors who have not submitted a rebate application or completed contractor training since June 1, 2019, will have until December 31, 2019, to do so or will be removed as an approved Direct Discount contractor.

Beginning 2020, Direct Discount contractor training webinars will be held quarterly instead of monthly.

Incentive change – Effective December 1, 2019, the incentive amount for prescriptive measures will be reduced from $0.15/kWh to $0.13/kWh. Custom projects, which always require pre-approval, will still be offered at $0.14/kWh until further notice. A new DD Assessment Tool will be available December 1, 2019, to reflect the incentive change.

Reminders:
  • When submitting projects through the portal, please ensure the kWh savings measure is completed and provide all customer contact information.
  • A distributor invoice related to each project is required as part of your final documentation submission.
  • New construction is not eligible through the Direct Discount Program. If the space type is changing, i.e., a warehouse to office space, that may be considered new construction. Please reach out to the program team to verify.
  • Full pre-approval is required prior to beginning construction. An on-site verification is NOT considered pre-approval. If pre-approval is not received prior to construction, the project will be transferred to our Standard Program.
  • All Direct Discount project details will be communicated with the main point of contact for each company. This contact is assigned when completing the Direct Discount Contractor Agreement and the Direct Discount contractor training webinar. If there are questions about your projects, please contact the account manager assigned to your rebate or the program management team.

Distributor Instant Discount Program/Midstream

Installation timeline — Following a sale from a qualified distributor, installation is expected to occur within 90 days. Whether planned or caused by unforeseen delays, please communicate to the distributors when this presents an issue. Projects found uninstalled will require additional follow-up.

Customer outreach — Postcards have been mailed to all new customers who have participated in the Distributor Instant Discount Program with a link for them to enter a drawing for a $250 Amazon gift card through December 31, 2019. A sample of customers are also receiving phone calls to ask them a few quick questions and to thank them for their participation.

Installation verification — Customers must be made aware that a PPL discount has been applied to the price of their lighting materials when applicable. Customers will be sampled for phone and in-person installation verification. Follow-up may be necessary if customers are unaware of the PPL discount received and/or the products are not installed.

Qualified products — ENERGY STAR® and DesignLights Consortium® are publicly listed catalogs of tested and energy-efficient products. When considering options for a lighting project, check the catalogs to see if the product is listed to ensure that it qualifies for a discount.

New DLC Technical Requirements coming

Beginning 2020, the DesignLights Consortium® (DLC) will release Technical Requirements 5.0, which updates requirements for products to be listed on the DLC Qualified Product List (QPL). By mid-2021, products must meet version 5.0 requirements, or they will be de-listed. At this time, we do not plan on requiring products to be listed under version 5.0 until June 1, 2021. Products that are qualified under current version 4.4 continue to be eligible for incentives and will continue to be eligible until May 31, 2021.
